The City of Norwalk received BusinessWeek's prestigous designation as Iowa's best affordable suburb. Norwalk's population is close to 8,000, with the majority of residents commuting to Des Moines for employment. With an average age of 33, a median family income of $79,106 and a median family home price of $136,250, the city is proving very attractive to young Iowa famlies.

Currently, Norwalk has a country club, a private lake and public facilities such as two golf courses, parks, tennis courts and swimming pools. A mix of properties can be found in the Lakewood neighborhood, and new residential developments such as Ridge-Echo Valley, Legacy, and Orchard Hills are underway.
